Our Story
Basiima Crafts was established after identifying a pressing need: despite widespread unemployment in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), many people possess unique artisanal skills. By connecting these artisans with broader markets, Basiima Crafts not only uplifts livelihoods but also ensures that traditional cultural values are preserved.
A key part of our work is the revival and promotion of Bark cloth (Olubugo) a traditional Ugandan fabric with deep cultural significance. Once used primarily for funeral rites, bark cloth has now found new expression in the global fashion and design industries. Through partnerships, we showcase its versatility in fashion, interior design, art, and beyond.
